This heart wrenching movie was Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Starring the legendary Rajesh Khanna, who was called the first real superstar of Indian movies. Also starring isscreen Icon Amitabh Bachchan. Also starring Sumita Sanyal and Ramesh Deo, this is touching film follows the story of a terminally ill man who wishes to live his life to the fullest before death comes for him. His story is narrated by his best friend. It was a big hit and continues to resonate it’s pace setting quality for others to emulate (if they can).
One of the greatest movies ever in India. Actors Prithviraj Kapoor, Madhubala, Dilip Kumar and Durga Khote put in an incredible performance where a Royal Prince in the 16th century falls in love with a commoner who happens to be a court dancer in the King’s palace. He now has to fight his father the emperor who is against the relationship. This really good, classic love story, scores a winner.
Sholay took 2 and half years to film and starred some of the greatest actors and in Indian cinema. This movie that became a landmark tells a story of a retired police chief called Thakur Baldev Singh, portrayed excellently by Sanjeev Kumar, who plans to stop a terrible and murderous bandit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan). He asks and gets help from two charismatic lesser criminals, Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra). And a heart racing battle of mind body and heart ensues. This movie happens to be the highest grossing Bollywood movieever produced. Also starring a young Hema Malni, five years before she married her Sholay co-star Dharmendra.
Personally, this is my favorite Bollywood film ever. Excellently scripted, superbly acted and filled with songs that stay in your heart for a long long time.
This Super Romantic movie Directed by Vijay Anand, stars Dev Anand, Waheeda Rehman, Leela Chitnis and Anwar Hussain. It tells a story of a young man who works as a tour guide. He meets and falls in love with a married woman. And through his love, he helps her discover happiness and joy by helping her rediscover her strong love for song and dance. Yes I know, it sounds beautiful, but a bit corny right? But it is far more remarkabke that the synopsis suggests. A real romantic classic.
